Te Whaea: National Dance & Drama Centre is the home of Toi Whakaari and the New Zealand School of Dance and is one of the best performance training centres in the country.

Te Whaea is a large and spacious building with high, cathedral-like ceilings and purpose-built, modern facilities.

Located on the site of the former Winter Show Buildings, Te Whaea is located in the inner-city suburb of Newtown on part of Wellington’s ‘green belt’ nature reserve. It’s just five minutes’ drive from the heart of the city and has ample parking. Studios, rehearsal rooms, theatres and performance spaces are available for hire.
